S3: CLUSTER POLICY & SPATIAL PLANNING
SECOND MIDTERM MEETING
The midterm meeting presents the findings of research conducted on the spatial/territorial dimension of Smart Specialisation Strategies. In particular, the discussion will integrate the preliminary findings of research activities accomplished during the first year of the MAPS-LED Project to search, across the whole domain of innovation policy and its practical expression, a methodological framework in which the "place" acquired a specific connotation in designing "tailored policy" for innovation and knowledge spillovers. A new approach, for the urban dimension issue within cohesion policy, is presented combining trough knowledge based urban development principles with urban regeneration mechanism in designing innovation policy from urban to regional level.

The International Doctorate Program in Urban Regeneration & Economic Development is based on a highly competitive, international and interdisciplinary training agenda focused on new approaches in delivering and implementing integrated urban policy and local economic development strategies.
The official call for the application to the sixth Cycle of the Program (2017/2019) is about to be launched in the next months in order to inform applicants about procedures, requirements and deadlines related to application process.

June 22, 2017. Final Defense International Doctorate Program
“Urban regeneration & economic development”
The Final Defense for the candidates of the Urban Regeneration and Economic Development PhD Program, will be held on Thursday, June 22 (3:00 pm) at the Aula Magna of the former Faculty of Architecture of the City of Reggio Calabria. The event marks the conclusion of the Second Cycle of the Program, started in 2012.
The International Doctoral Program reached its 5th Cycle and represents a permanent link between Research (7FP-H2020) and Development (POR FSE Region of Calabria) Policies.
The topics covered by the PhD candidates respond to the key objective of the Program: propose concrete plans and actions for the Calabrian territory, in consistence with the new European programming period, European Policies and the programmatic tools defined by the National (PON) and Regional (POR) Operative Programs.
